Key Types of Income to include on a Tax Return
Trading Income
Whether you are a butcher, a baker or a candle stick maker (or in todays world, a blogger, a slogger or an online flogger) you need to declare your income minus your expenditure.
Dividends
Dividends are a distribution of income from a company which you hold shares in. Quite often, these are dividends from your own company.
Salary & Benefits in Kind
each year your employer will provide you with a P60 and a P11-D.
Capital Gains Tax
CGT is charged on profit from the sale of assets; typically land or buildings and shares. Since 2021, an estimate of CGT arising has to be paid within 60 days of disposal (Find out more).
Property Income
Property income can arise from investment properties (residential or commercial) or from furnished holiday lets.
Pensions
Pensions, including draw downs and state pensions are a taxable income.
